Robotics Development Summer Intern

Job Summary

Looking forSummer, or Fall 2020 robotics development intern! 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work with our experienced software engineers to build algorithms and simulations for manipulators, ground robots, and humanoids. This position requires someone who has an eye for detail and is passionate about all things robotics. 

As an intern, you will receive a combination of practical experience and training in a work environment that fosters and rewards cooperation, teamwork, learning, and fun. 

This internship will prepare you for a career at MathWorks starting in our Engineering Development Group (EDG). 


After training on MathWorks development processes and tools, you will work with the Robotics System Toolbox team on:

  • Building new technologies for Robotics System Toolbox
  • Working on MATLAB and Simulink algorithms for autonomous ground vehicles, robot manipulators, and humanoid robots
  • Prototyping algorithms for robot manipulation (such as collision-free motion planning and inverse kinematics). 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a master's level or a PhD level degree in a technical discipline.
  • Familiar with MATLAB

Additional Qualifications

  • Pursuing an MS or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a strong academic record
  • Expertise with algorithms for autonomous ground vehicles or robot manipulators
  • Familiarity with objected oriented programming and C++
  • Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS), Gazebo, and V-Rep 
  • Experience working with physical robot platforms and sensors 
  • Strong communication skills
  • 3 months full-time commitment
