Engineering Tech Writer for Simulink Documentation Intern

Job Summary

Looking for Summer 2020 Engineering Technical Writer intern! 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work with our experienced technical writers and software engineers to create Simulink documentation. This position requires someone who has an eye for detail and is passionate about teaching others how to use Simulink software to solve challenging engineering problems. 

As an intern, you will receive a combination of practical experience and training in a work environment that fosters and rewards cooperation, teamwork, learning, and fun. 

This internship will prepare you for a career at MathWorks starting in our Engineering Development Group (EDG). 

Responsibilities

After training on MathWorks development processes and tools, you will work with the Simulink Documentation team to 

  • Write user-focused content that explains how to model, and simulate engineering systems 

  • Develop examples that show how to use software features that span multiple products 

  • Work with customer facing groups to identify use cases, workflows, and information needs 

  • Participate in the software development process, review software requirements and functional designs, provide comments and suggest improvements 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's level degree in a technical discipline.
  • Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without restriction.
  • Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Additional Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a strong academic record
  • Experience with Simulink
  • Experience with Technical Writing
  • Experience in programming and object-oriented design
  • Strong communication skills
  • 3 months full-time commitment
