Director, Software Pricing and Licensing Strategy

Resumen del empleo

MathWorks is seeking a senior leader to own pricing, packaging, and licensing models across our software portfolio, including desktop and SaaS offerings. This role defines price metrics, license constructs, entitlements, and migration paths—and translates those decisions into contracts, systems, and customer-facing offerings.

As a member of the Business Model Development team, this role partners closely with Product Management, Development, Sales, Finance, Legal, and business-systems teams to bring new commercial models to market in a way that is customer‑clear, operationally executable, and aligned with MathWorks long‑term strategy. The ideal candidate has directly owned pricing and licensing decisions for enterprise software, including both customer-hosted and SaaS delivery models, and understands how commercial design choices translate into real-world customer experience and field execution.

This is not a pricing analytics, BI, or product‑marketing role. This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role operating at a Director level through ownership and cross-functional influence rather than people management. The primary accountability is owning software pricing and licensing models from design through launch and migration, with analytics and enablement serving that goal.

Responsabilidades

  • Own pricing and licensing models for a portfolio of B2B and B2C software offerings, including package structure, value metrics, license metrics, and feature placement.
  • Lead pricing and licensing decisions for major business‑model changes, including model transitions, deployment types, and commercial generations.
  • Translate approved pricing and licensing decisions into implementation requirements across quoting and order management, licensing systems, billing, contracts, and customer-facing communications.
  • Define and evolve license constructs such as named user, network/floating (concurrent), device-based, hybrid, and usage-based models; recommend when each model best aligns with product value, customer workflows, and deployment realities.
  • Design entitlements and commercial rules for new offers and changes to existing offers, including tiers, add-ons, usage rights, upgrade paths, and customer migration terms.
  • Drive pricing and licensing decisions in alignment with broader company goals, ensuring changes are governed and executable at scale.
  • Use data and modeling to evaluate pricing and licensing tradeoffs, as an input to model design.

Cualificaciones mínimas

  • A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without restriction.
  • Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Cualificaciones adicionales

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of software pricing and licensing model design, from definition through launch and implementation in systems such as CPQ, billing, or licensing platforms.
  • Experience designing license metrics, entitlements, and commercial rules for enterprise software
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting to senior and cross‑functional audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives through influence rather than authority.
  • Experience with SaaS pricing, monetization models, usage‑based pricing, or cloud licensing.
  • Experience leading or supporting major business‑model transitions.
  • Familiarity with enterprise software and global pricing structures.
