# Limits

Right, left, and bidirectional limits of symbolic expressions and functions

Compute Bidirectional Limits

Suppose, you have a function `f(x)`.

Compute Right and Left Limits

If a limit of a function at a particular value of a variable does not exist, the `limit` command returns `undefined`.

If Limits Do Not Exist

If the `limit` command cannot compute a limit of a function at a particular point and also cannot prove that the limit is not defined at this point, the command returns an unresolved limit:
