The error usually indicates the installer could not extract the archived files (such as a .zip file) it is attempting to use. This could be caused by the following things:
  1. Administrative Permissions
  2. Antivirus Software
  3. Corrupted Installer
  4. Insufficient Storage

1. Administrative Permissions
You must have read, write, and executive privileges on the folder where the installer is installing to and running from. If you do not have these privileges, ask your computer's administrator to grant you these privileges or run the installer themselves.
If you are on Windows and you are using the MathWorks Product Installer to install a product such as MATLAB, please trying running the installer from a different folder, such as your Desktop.

2. Antivirus Software
Some security software will interpret our installers as a false positive and prevent it from running. Disabling your antivirus software varies depending on what antivirus software you have installed. Refer to your antivirus's documentation to accomplish this.

3. Corrupted Installer (if an installer is being used)
The installer that you've downloaded may have been corrupted for a number of reasons. You should first try deleting the installer and redownloading it. If you are on Windows and you are using the MathWorks Product Installer to install a product such as MATLAB, make sure the that the folder named "_temp_matlab_R20XXx_win64" is deleted too (the R20XXx represents the release you've downloaded.) This folder lives in the same folder where you downloaded the installer to.
Keep in mind that security software, such as antivirus software, may be corrupting the download of the installer without stating so. Disabling antivirus or security software may be necessary before re-downloading the installer.
Make sure nothing is interfering with your internet connection, such as a firewall from a VPN or proxy server. Please disable these, if you have the ability to do so. If you experiencing connectivity issues, troubleshooting connection issues can be done by following the steps in the article linked below.

4. Insufficient Storage
Please make sure there is enough space on the machine for the installation, the installer (if one is being used), and space for the installer to temporarily create some files.
