How can I colour in different colours 2 rows of ylabel using Latex as interpreter?

I wrote this line :

ylabel({'$\tilde{\mu}_c$','$\tilde{\mu}_o$'},'Interpreter', 'Latex','Rotation',0,'Position',[-0.1,0.5,0],'FontSize',15)

as ylabel but I wanted to colour in red '$\tilde{\mu}_c$' and in blue '$\tilde{\mu}_o$' using Latex as interpreter (because I need it to put the tilde on the mu symbol ).

Good luck. The LaTeX interpreter doesn't appear to accept any form of the \color directive; apparently one of the color packages isn't loaded by default.

I've never had any success loading anything else; no idea how to go about that from past excursions. Web is full of laments and frustration with LaTeX and Matlab and TMW documentation is of no use at all -- they dump it all onto the user.

I honestly don't know if it is even possible and just don't know how or what. I've pretty much given up on fooling w/ LaTeX as lost cause inside Matlab.

First of all thank you for aswering me. do you know if is it possible to put the tilde on the mu symbol without Latex as interpreter, in a way that I can use the |color directive in Matlab?

Not that am aware of, no, sorry. I don't know if one could mange to draw the desired image by position multiple TeX characters or not...probably not very successfully and with much pain to try I'd guess.

Most recent other lament I found confirms my recollections of a couple years earlier <Answers/478473-how-to-add-asmmath-package-or-other-package-to-matlab-latex> If Walter can't/hasn't figured it out, we mere mortals aren't going to!

I searched Yair's "undocumented Matlab" site a couple years ago; again down a rathole. I haven't searched there recently but nothing showed up on a dags report on first page so looks as though been dormant subject there.

ADDENDUM:

If it's important enough, maybe you could use some other facility to build the desired legend and paste it as an image instead of text...again a whole lot of work, probably.

Wish had better news to report. LaTeX is (one of) the lesser-class citizens in the MATLAB stable for sure.

Well, it finally dawned on me how to work around your particular wish...

hTxt(1,1)=text(-0.1,0.55,{'$\tilde{\mu}_c$'},'Interpreter', 'Latex','Rotation',0,'FontSize',15,'color','r');
hTxt(2,1)=text(-0.1,0.45,{'$\tilde{\mu}_o$'},'Interpreter', 'Latex','Rotation',0,'FontSize',15,'color','b');

results in

May want to fiddle with position a little, but gets the characters wanted in the colors wanted.

So, somehow the LaTeX engine is told the color, but can't figure out how to do it other than globally for the string. This produces two objects instead of just the one via legend so can fixup them individually.

Yeah, it's easy to get fixated on how to make one deadend path work to the point don't think about alternatives...but I agree it surely seems there ought to be a way to do what asked originally if TMW is going to support the 'LaTeX' interpreter property at all. If do, then ought to document how to use their encapsulation inside their product. Been this way 30 years. :(
