How can I have two different scales within the same axis on a plot ?

I have a figure that looks like this :

But I would like a linear scale on the x-axis from 0 to 2, and then a logarithmic scale from 2 to 8. In other words, I would like the interesting data (on the left from 0 to 2) to take more space on the figure but I still want to see the red line going to 0 for x=8. The ideal result would be similar to this :

The main challenge is that the shaded error bar function that I use in my figure is handmade and quite complex, so I would need a solution that I can apply after I plotted the figure you see. Can you help me with this ?
