Simulation of Single-Phase Semi-Controlled Converter with RL Load.
To design, simulate, and analyze a single-phase semi-controlled converter using thyristors and diodes for DC voltage regulation.
A single-phase semi-controlled converter, also known as a half-controlled converter, combines controlled (thyristor) and uncontrolled (diode) switches. It is commonly used in DC motor drives, controlled rectifiers, and power supplies where partial control over output voltage is required.
MATLAB/Simulink Simulation Steps:
  1. Design the circuit using Simulink blocks (Thyristors, Diodes, AC Source, RLC Series Branch).
  2. Set parameters such as input voltage, frequency, and component values.
  3. Configure gate pulse generators for appropriate firing angles.
  4. Connect voltage and current measurement blocks.
  5. Run the simulation and observe the waveforms of input voltage, output voltage, and current.
  6. Analyze the performance characteristics, including ripple factor and voltage regulation.
Applications:
