Hello. And welcome to our MATLAB installation video for MATLAB (Individual) licensing on personal computers. My name is Cody, from the MathWorks Installation and Licensing Support team. And in this video, I will demonstrate how to link to the MATLAB (Individual) license and install MATLAB your on personal computer.
As of R2023b, MATLAB (Individual) installations are no longer activated to a username and computer host ID. Instead, you will simply log in with your MathWorks Account or, for even greater convenience, log in using your university credentials, if Single Sign-On is configured for your university. With MATLAB (Individual), you may access MATLAB anywhere, such as cloud and virtual environments, as well as your personal computer, classroom computer, or a web browser.
Let's start by demonstrating how you will link to the MATLAB (Individual) license and how to download the MathWorks installer. First, we will link to the license. Navigate to your university's portal page, and click on the 'Sign in to Get Started' button. This will direct you to the MathWorks sign-in page. If you already have a MathWorks Account with your university email address, sign in. If you do not have a MathWorks Account with your university email address, select 'Create one.'
Here, you'll be prompted for your university email address to begin. If Single Sign-On (SSO) is not enabled, you will be prompted to create a password. After you've created a password, we will send a verification code to your university email inbox. Enter this code to verify your email. Then accept the online service agreement when ready to continue.
If SSO is enabled, you will not be prompted to create a password or to verify your email. Instead, you will be redirected to your university sign-in portal, where you will be prompted to sign in with your university credentials. To finish creating your MathWorks Account, you will be prompted for additional details, such as your name and your role at the university.
Once completed, you will be signed in, linked to the MATLAB (Individual) license, and directed to the MATLAB home page. Now you're ready to install MATLAB your personal computer or access MATLAB any computer, utilizing MATLAB (Individual) licensing. To install MATLAB, you will need to first download the MathWorks installer.
To download the installer, select 'Install MATLAB' at the top right of the MATLAB home page. Here, you can select the release of MATLAB and the computer's operating system. For MATLAB (Individual), we highly recommend installing the latest release of MATLAB to receive the full benefits of MATLAB and the Campus-Wide License. Once you've selected both, click on the 'Download for OS' button to begin the download.
Next, let's walk through the installation process. Start by running the downloaded MathWorks installer. You will first be prompted to sign in with your MathWorks Account or your university credentials, if Single Sign-On is enabled. Once signed in, read and accept the License Agreement. Then when ready, click 'Next' to continue.
You will now be prompted to select a license to install. Select the MATLAB (individual) license. Then click 'Next'. The installer will then recommend a destination folder. You may browse to a new folder, or click 'Next' to continue. By default, MATLAB will be the only product selected to install. Select additional products, or click 'Next' to install MATLAB.
Next, you will choose your installation options, such as adding a desktop shortcut to Windows. Once you've made your selections, click 'Next'. Finally, you may begin the installation. MATLAB is now installed on your personal computer and ready to be launched.
When launching MATLAB for the first time, you will be prompted to sign in. Once you have logged into MATLAB on this computer for the first time, you may access MATLAB completely offline without the requirement to sign in at each startup.
We encourage you to take advantage of the MATLAB (Individual) license option for all your MATLAB installations, whether on campus or at home. For installation assistance, please visit the MathWorks Support page for our installation documentation, or contact MathWorks Support. Thank you for watching.
