Using Speedgoat Target Computer Hardware for Simulink Real-Time

Michael Vetsch, MathWorks

Simulink® Real-Time™ lets you create real-time applications from Simulink® models and run them on dedicated target computer hardware connected to your physical system. It supports real-time simulation and testing, including rapid control prototyping, DSP and vision system prototyping, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation.

Simulink Real-Time and Speedgoat target computer hardware are expressly designed to work together.  In this webinar we explain the process of selecting Speedgoat target computer and I/O hardware for an application or range of applications defined by the characteristics of the physical system for the real-time applications you want to create.

We discuss the following topics accompanied by examples:

  • Introduction to working with Simulink Real-Time
  • Representation of the connectivity to your physical system in a Simulink model
  • Overview of Speedgoat target computer, I/O, and protocol interface hardware
  • Characterization of your physical system, including dynamics and I/O interfaces
  • Deriving the requirements for the Speedgoat target real-time system
  • Delivery, initial setup, and acceptance testing of a Speedgoat target real-time system
  • Building, running, and testing your real-time applications connected to your  physical system
  • Support, upgrades, and maintenance of your Speedgoat target real-time system over time

About the Presenters:
Michael Vetsch is the Product Marketing Manager for Real-Time Simulation and Testing. He is a renowned expert on Simulink Real-Time (formerly known as xPC Target), having initially authored it in 1997. In prior roles, he was the MathWorks xPC Target development lead, and the founder and CTO of Speedgoat.

Patric Schenk joined Speedgoat as the VP of Sales and Engineering in December 2011. Before joining Speedgoat, Patric worked at MathWorks Switzerland for 8 years in the areas of Model-Based Design, real-time testing, technical computing, and computational finance.
