Acoustic Compliance

R2026b

Linear compliance in acoustic systems

Since R2026b

  • Acoustic Compliance block

Libraries:
Simscape Acoustics / Acoustic Elements

Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

The Acoustic Compliance block models a linear acoustic compliance using the equation

U=CdPdt

where:

  • U is the volume velocity.

  • C is compliance.

  • P is pressure.

  • t is time.

The Series resistance and Parallel conductance parameters represent small parasitic effects. Simulation of some circuits might require the presence of the small series resistance. For more information, see Modeling Best Practices (Simscape).

The conserving acoustic ports + and - correspond to the positive and negative terminals of the block, respectively. The volume velocity is positive if it flows from positive to negative. The pressure across the block is equal to the difference between the pressure at the positive and the negative terminal, P(+) – P(-).

Examples

Ports

Conserving

Acoustic conserving port associated with the positive terminal.

Acoustic conserving port associated with the negative terminal.

Parameters

expand all

Compliance value of the acoustic compliance component in cubic meters per pascal. Acoustic compliance represents the compressibility of air inside a volume.

Effective series resistance of the component that causes small parasitic losses to the pressure.

Effective parallel conductance of the component that causes small parasitic losses to the volume velocity.
