Acoustic Properties block

To add a block to a model, double-click the canvas and start typing the block name. Then, select the block from the list.

Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

The Acoustic Properties block provides acoustic properties of the medium of the connected acoustic network. The default values are for air.

Each topologically distinct acoustic circuit in a diagram can have an Acoustic Properties block connected to it. If you do not attach an Acoustic Properties block to a circuit, the blocks in the circuit use the default values of an Acoustic Properties block.

Conserving

a — Connection port

Acoustic conserving port that connects the block to the acoustic network. You can connect it to any point on an acoustic connection line in a block diagram. When you connect the Acoustic Properties block to a connection line, the software automatically identifies the acoustic blocks connected to the particular circuit and propagates the acoustic properties to all the blocks in the circuit.

Acoustic medium density — Density of acoustic medium

1.21 kg/m^3 (default) | positive scalar

Density of the acoustic medium.

Sound speed — Speed at which sound waves propagate through acoustic medium

Speed at which sound waves propagate through the acoustic medium.

Ambient barometric pressure — Barometric pressure of medium

101325 Pa (default) | positive scalar

Barometric pressure of the acoustic medium.

Specific heat at constant pressure — Specific heat of acoustic medium

1.01e3 J/(K*kg) (default) | positive scalar

Specific heat of the acoustic medium.

Ratio of specific heats — Ratio of specific heats of acoustic medium

1.4 (default) | positive scalar greater than 1

Ratio of specific heats of the acoustic medium. You must specify a value greater than 1.

Viscosity — Viscosity of acoustic medium

15.68e-6 m^2/s (default) | positive scalar

Viscosity of the acoustic medium.

Thermal conductivity — Thermal conductivity of acoustic medium

0.0257 W/(m*K) (default) | positive scalar

Thermal conductivity of the acoustic medium.
