Ideal transformer in acoustic systems

Since R2026b

  • Acoustic Transformer block

Libraries:
Simscape Acoustics / Transformers

Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

The Acoustic Transformer block models an ideal power-conserving acoustic transformer using the equations

P2=T⋅P1U2=1T⋅U1

where:

  • P1 is the primary pressure (Pa).

  • P2 is the secondary pressure (Pa).

  • U1 is the volume velocity (m3/s) flowing into the 1+ terminal.

  • U2 is the volume velocity (m3/s) flowing out of the 2+ terminal.

  • T is the pressure ratio of the acoustic transformer, analogous to the winding ratio of an Ideal Transformer (Simscape) in the electrical domain.

The two acoustic networks connected to the primary and secondary terminals of the acoustic transformer must each have their own Acoustic Reference block.
