Far-Field Pressure Sensor

R2026b

Radiated far-field pressure sensor in acoustic systems

Since R2026b

  • Far Field Pressure Sensor block

Libraries:
Simscape Acoustics / Acoustic Sensors

Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

The Far-Field Pressure Sensor block calculates the radiated on-axis far-field pressure from the volume velocity, assuming radiation from an infinite baffle and that the source is small compared to the wavelength.

The on-axis far-field pressure from the (infinitely) baffled circular piston when the source is small compared to the wavelength is

Pff=dUdt⋅ρ2πD

where:

  • Pff is pressure.

  • U is the volume velocity.

  • ρ is air density.

  • D is distance.

  • t is time.
