Si comprende la física del sistema y puede representar el sistema usando ecuaciones diferenciales o de diferencias ordinarias (EDO) con parámetros desconocidos, puede usar los comandos de System Identification Toolbox™ para realizar el modelado de caja gris. Las EDO de modelos de caja gris especifican la estructura matemática del modelo de forma explícita, incluidas las uniones entre parámetros. El modelado de caja gris resulta útil cuando se conocen las relaciones entre variables, las restricciones del comportamiento del modelo o las ecuaciones explícitas que representan la dinámica del sistema.
