difference between single image and multi image super resolution?

In single image it takes patches from a sequence a low resolution image

</matlabcentral/answers/uploaded_files/48956/super%20resol.PNG> what about the multi image ?whether it takes patch from the same image or from different image or whether I am wrong in this concept please clear my doubt sir.
