How to export 3D figure geometry to .iges, .stl, or similar format for importation into a CAD environment

I have spent the past several weeks and countless hours trying to export MATLAB figures to a format importable into a CAD or FEA environment (I'm trying to import the geometry into Solidworks and Abaqus). The figure I generate in MATLAB is rotatable in three dimensions, but I have no idea how to preserve that geometry for CAD or FEA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. Another user wrote a script which gave me the ability to export to .iges format. I do not know the name of the function off the top of my head, but I can stop by my old lab and figure it out if there is enough interest.
