Is there anyone who can help me with SPIHT algorithm?

I want to modify the SPIHT algorithm in such a way that it will output the significant pixels instead of bitstream. In the modification I'm not considering the required bit rate. For this whenever I run the modified algorithm's code, it goes infinity. Is there any way to bound the threshold that is 'n'? Plese,help is needed in urgent basis.
