identification of handwritting image

I'm in the middle of digital image processing project. And i'll make function for segmentasion of handwritting image by word, and then identification of handwritting image which have segment by word using graphology. my goal are identification of people's character using graphology rules. And now, what must i do for the first step? anyone, please help me. .
