MatLab Home License on Multiple Computers

The license restrictions for the MatLab Home version are not very clear. So, can I...
- Install MatLab using a 'Home' license on multiple PCs, such as on my laptop and on my workstation?
- Can I download and install versions from different operating systems? For instance, the above installs PLUS an install on my Linux workstation?
Thanks.

According to the text you posted in another Question, the Home license still only allows one activation.

The R2016a Home license still does not permit installation on multiple computers. See below: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/158611-matlab-home-license-on-multiple-computers#answer_231927

Hi John,
You can activate MATLAB Home on two computers but use it on one computer at a time
Thanks

John, good question. Shantanu, have to say thanks - for providing an open and direct answer. Additionally the answer biases my decision heavily toward purchasing several MathWorks products. I have a Win 8.1 laptop and a power house Win 8.0 desktop and need to run ML on both. I travel often so a lot of script and method development will occur on the laptop and then the processing / analysis / results will occur on the desktop.

I've just installed MATLAB Home version on my home desktop (Win 7) & personal laptop (Ubuntu 14.04) and was able to activate both without problem.

Why is there a limit if you can only run on one computer at a time?
I have multiple computers with various OS's that I would like to have Matlab on; Windows 7 (2 computers), Linux (Ubuntu), and Mac. I am the only user in my house but would like to learn more subtleties on the different OS's.
Is there a way to have a single home for multiple platforms without having to choose which computers I want to install Matlab on?
Thank you, Matt

Shantanu works for the Mathworks. For the rest of us, we're not really supposed to talk about it. Here is the official Mathworks reply: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/89168-matlab-engine-without-matlab-license#answer_125028

Quoting from the R2016a license_agreement.txt file, in the section about the Student license and Home license addendum:
"The Student License and Home License each permit the Licensee to use the Programs on one Computer that Licensee owns or leases provided (i) the Programs are only accessible to, and used by, Licensee, and (ii) Licensee has provided machine-specific identification for such Computer through the registration and activation process. Network installation is prohibited."
This is clear. There is no provision to install on more than one computer provided that only one at a time is used.

No more than 2 activations per year are allowed, so the third laptop won't fly. This is just mad.
I got myself in a bind by trying out PCs until I found a proper config to run Matlab on - it wouldn't activate the third time although I had deactivated one of the two previous installations. So inconvenient.

Contact Support, "licensing and installation". Either they can help you get MATLAB running on the previous device or else they can allow you to transfer again.

Hi,
We have matlab installed in a computer at the Uiniversity. We have MATLAB license for each user, however for PLS toolbox we only have the single license. The computer is the same though. Can we share this toolbox within each user?
If yes, How do we do i?
Thanks
Marcus

Are you referring to the third-party PLS_Toolbox? If so I think you would need to contact Eigenvector Research, Inc. using the contact information on that page and ask them your question about licensing that toolbox.
