There are an infinity of solutions for one equation in two unknowns.

The given equation
can be rewritten in this familiar line equation form
You can substitute any real value into x and find y
If there is another curve that intersects with the line, then you can find a unique solution.
If there are two intersections, then there are two solutions.
x = -4:0.1:4;
y = 3*x + 4;
