Infinite Ground plane for custom PCB-Antenna

Hi,

using the Antenna Toolbox I want to generate a PCB Antenna using PCBstack with a custom pattern top metal layer, a dielectric (FR4) in the middle and an infinite groundplane as bottom layer. You provide a similar example, using patchMicrostrip():

How can i use an Infinite groundlayer in this case? I cannot make it work for a custom PCBstack-Antenna because it is not able to set one end of the feed onto the infinte ground (it does not accept it as a layer for the PCBstack).

Hi apex,

As per my understanding, you want to set ground plane length to be infinite for a custom PCB Stack antenna. Currently PCB Stack doesn’t support ground plane length to be infinite. For a custom PCB Stack Antenna, the layers are antenna shapes whose dimensions must be finite that is the reason it doesn’t support infinite length.
