Why cannot MATLAB 2015b run on El Capitan?

Installed El Capitan on a 2008 iMac; works just fine. Downloaded complete student version of Matlab 2015b. At start only the blue start-page is shown and then nothing more happens. The licence stuff is taken care of so it shouldn't be the problem. What could it be then?

Please contact Mathworks for free installation support (even for trial versions and student versions.)
