whether matlab function block and trigger block can be linearized?

Hi, I am modeling a motor control system. In my controller, I am using (1) matlab function block to do some calculations; and (2) triggered blocks to simulate the different updating speed of my outer and inner PI control loop. Now I want to use the PID tuner to find pi gains for my outer loop(has 1 PID controller) and the inner loop(has 2 PID controllers), but the PID tuner just can't launch. So I am wondering if a simulink model like mine can actually been linearized?

Is there a specific error message?
When I add switches in a model (in R2015b) and then try opening the PID Tuner - it does open and then show a message stating that the plant cannot be linearized. Do you see something similar?

Hi, Triggered subsystems are discontinuous and would typically not linearize. For cases when exact linearization does not work, the best approach is to compute linear model approximation using simulation data.
The workflow for this is shown in this video and explained in this doc example .
Hope this helps.

Hi Arkadiy,
You mention triggered subsystems, does that only include triggered blocks, or are matlab function blocks also triggered subsystems, and if so would similar methods work to compute a linear model approximation?
Thanks
