HDL Coder real time connection

If you covert your Simulink design to HDL code, how would you then connect the design for real time streaming. For example in my case if you used to load data in the callback initialisation during the design phase in Simulink, but now ready to stream data from a laptop over PCI express or Ethernet or another connection, where can you find Simulink HDL compatible blocks which allows you to stream data from your laptop to a FPGA development board. I guess my question is if you do purchase Simulink RealTime toolbox, can you just use this together with a FPGA development board or do you have to buy a target PC such as SpeadGoat (the 3rd party vendor).
