i want to get variable in the work space

i want to get a variable in the work space ; i can display it in the command window but not saved in the work space.

If some variable exists then it is most definitely in a workspace, contrary to what your question states. Perhaps not in the base workspace, but it will most definitely be in some workspace. Most likely it is in some callback's or other function's workspace, although you didn't give any information that would actually help us understand what you are doing.

In any case, you should start learning about the different workspaces, and how to pass data between them:
