meaning of copyfile function message 'Cleaning up unclosed ZipFile'

I used copyfile() to copy a zip file.

Then coping was succeeded. I found a copied file.

but I got message in command window like this ↓

Cleaning up unclosed ZipFile for archive C:\~~\sample.zip

I could not understand the meaning of message.

can you help me?

There are a few things that may help in identifying the cause further:

1. How are you invoking the function. As in the exact line of code. 2. Please confirm the type of the file.(If it is a zip file) 3. Any other file with the same name? 4. Is it an error message and the copy is not successful?

MATLAB keeps the file open while performing the operation. It may be a status alert that you might be viewing.

I have the same behavior with 2017a, running a class manually for code work. The class copies with zip files into a tmp folder, then calls an exe which expands them into folders, along with some other decoding. In the end the zip files are moved (movefile) to final locations and all the contents of the temp folder is deleted.

These messages however are not generated at the time of the movefile, they appear later, either when the class has completed, or an error is thrown inside a try/catch block. I get multiple occurrences of the same file, suggesting they are piling up somehow. Movefile is returning success each time called, and the zip files have been moved.

My function call is

[dstat,result] = movefile('*.zip',Dest,'f');

which returns

K>> dstat

dstat =

    logical

     1

K>> result

result =

    0×0 empty char array

The files are moved, sometimes I don't get the message, other times I get many of them, all together.

I'm not sure there is a problem here, but I've been using this same approach with a similar call for several years. I'd not seen these messages until I updated to 17a.

I am having this exact same problem. I am copying a .zip file into a temp folder, processing it, then deleting it all. I don't get the message until the execution is complete and returns control to the command window. When I do it in R2013b it works fine and I don't get any messages. When I do it in R2017b everything copies fine and I have no problem with the results, but I do get all these pesky red text "Cleaning up unclose ZipFile for archive....".

I had the same issue when using the following function: LISTZIPCONTENTS - File Exchange - MATLAB Central (mathworks.com)

I have added pause(1) after it, in some cases it works (because I want to delete the zip file once extracted), while in some others it does not (access denied). I hope it helps, even if this solution does not always work.
