delete variable from matfile problem

Hi:
I want to delete the variable fro matfile, and I found the answer in the web below: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/254048-how-can-i-delete-variables-in-my-mat-file-without-loading-them-into-matlab-7-2-r2006a#comment_472754
however, I do not know how to make into use, looks it is not a matlab code. can anyone give me some suggestions?

It is C code. You would have to put it into a .c file and use mex to compile it. See https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/mex.html
