What is Matlab doing when it appears doing nothing? The CPUs get busy when a function reaches "keyboard:" and switch off after "dbcont" or "dbquit". Why? Not noticed in earlier versions.

I have exactly the same behavior with v2018a. CPU go like crazy after a simple keyboard inserted in the program. Certainly a new bug...
Edit: to reproduce it, just type this (can't do simpler!):
for i_loop=1:10 if i_loop==5, keyboard, end end
and check you CPU load...

Will have to wait for solving this bug:
Answer from MatWorks: "We are aware of this issue in R2018a and the development team is working on resolving it for a future release. I apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
You can track the bug in the following report: https://www.mathworks.com/support/bugreports/1736753"
