4 tap moving averaging filter

Hi
for a 4 tap moving averaging filter is following correct
s=1000;
>> x=randn(1,s);
>> b=[0.25,0.25,0.25,0.25];
>> y = filter( b, 1, x );
I will be highly obliged for the advice

What's a "tap" moving avg?

Moving averages in matlab can be done using movemean() or with filter()
