calculation of correlation coefficient for 3d matrix

I have two variables with the same size, which are stored in 3d matrix (lat, lon, time) and I want to compute the correlation coefficient between two matrices at each grid cell (i.e. correlation along time or 3rd dimension). And then I would like to show the results in the form of map/image (therefore it would be better to avoid data reshape).
