Once I have downloaded R2020a of MATLAB on my windows pc, it won't let me run the application. What could be the issue? (I have uninstalled it and re downloaded it)

What does "won't let me run the application" mean?

• Do you receive warning and/or error messages? If so the full and exact text of those messages may be useful in determining what's going on and how to avoid the warning and/or error.
• Does it do something different than what you expected? If so, what did it do and what did you expect it to do?
• Does MATLAB crash / simply disappear? If so please send the crash log file to Technical Support using the telephone icon in the upper-right corner of this page so we can investigate.

Which Windows OS are you using? Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows XP, etc.?

Are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit OS?

I’m using windows 10 (64bit OS), when I try to run the application (literally click the shortcut icon on my desktop or even the icon in my programmable files) nothing happens. No error messages whatsoever.

Hmm. What happens if you open a Command Prompt (Windows Start menu, type "command", select Command Prompt), cd to the MATLAB root directory, cd into the bin subdirectory, and type "matlab" to launch MATLAB? Do you see any messages in the Command Prompt?

if you go to the temporary directory, do you see any files named matlab_crash_dump followed by some numbers?

Yes, after using Command Prompt it showed matlab_crash_dump followed by some numbers (and it had that line for the different times that I attempted to run the program during the course of that day)

I tried this procedure and nothing happened. I was just returned to the command prompt. When I click on the Matlab icon on the desktop, a window flashes and disappears before I can see what's in it.

If you open the matlab_crash_dump files, there should be a note at the end that tells you how to send that file to MathWorks. If it doesn't contact Technical Support using the telephone icon, send those crash files to Support, and work with the Support staff to determine why MATLAB is crashing on startup on your machine and hopefully how to correct or avoid the problem.
