Using pdepe where the initial condition is a function of x

I am trying to solve a system of three PDEs using pdepe with the initial and boundary conditions shown here. However, I am not sure how to input the initlal conditions into matlab becuase the initial condition does not have a specific numeric value but instead says that at t=0, u is a function of x
