Can someone help me with facial recognition using matlab?

I would like to create a simple program in matlab in facial recognition for a competition in college. I expect a help from any of you!

How simple can it be? What are the rules of the competition? Are you given a set of images to use? Where are they? Are they "test" images exactly like the database or are they snapped "live" by a digital camera and thus might be somewhat different than what's in your database?

Computer Vision System Toolbox now ships with Viola-Jones detection algorithm.
Here is an example on how to use it:
