A Simulink model and a GUI is presented to develop the simulations of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collpase. For academic purposes only.
This contribution is inspired in the Student's Project of Professor Gilbert N. Lewis presented Zill DG, Wright WS (2013) Differential Equations with Boundary-Value Problems, 8th Ed., Brooks/Cole Cengage Learning. On this a simplified model and for academic purposes only, for the Simulation of Tacoma Narrows Bridge 'Galliping Gertie' Collapse in 1940 is presented.
The model is developed in Simulink in the file Tacoma.slx and running GUIZillLewisTacoma.m is possible to change either sine input, initial conditions and parameters of the model. These programs were designed to acomplish the exercises for students presented at the end of the exposition in the same project. The main difference is that in text the solving for them is considered using analytical methods instead of numerical.
