date and time in CSV file

I have a CSV file it contains date, time and numerical values. I can read the numerical data in xlsread ('file name','sheet name','columns')matlab command prompt. But i can not read date and time. Is there any way to read the date and time. My aim is to plot the time values in horizontal axis, and numerical values in vertical axis instead of using xlswrite command.Would you please help me?
