Error on exporting data to excel sheet from script.

The following statement when executed on the Matlab terminal works fine but gives a

Undefined function 'writetable' for input arguments of type 'double' error

when written in a script :

writetable(ans,filename,'Sheet',1,'Range','B2:G514')

You probably do not have release R2013b or later, when that function was introduced. What does "which writetable" say?
