which camera can be used to take video input to convert it into images.

Dear all

I want develop an application which will take video input, convert it into images, color segmentation and pattern matching. for alphabet recognition from that input video. Which web camera should i use for it? the normal camera with laptop will work for it ? Please help... Thanks Shiv

Normal webcams would work, but the cheaper the webcam you use, the more work you might have to put in to the processing.
