i'm working on swirl flow estimation, so i would like to estimate flow parameters such as angular velocity of the flow using optical flow methods. now i have the map velocity of the movement but i could not figure out how to estimate the angular velocity of the flow

Please could you explain what you mean by angular velocity of the flow and map velocity.

Are you using the Computer Vision System Toolbox to do the optical flow? http://www.mathworks.com/help/vision/tracking-and-motion-estimation.html I think that's the first step. After that you'd have to write some custom code. I'm sure it's not a trivial 5 minute job, so I'm not going to do it for you. Good luck.
