Beaglebone Blue hardware setup simulink

Im trying to setup hardware for Beaglebone Blue. I followed the youtube tutorial from mathworks, but im getting an error saying its failing to detect beaglebone hardware on my computer ("failed to detect a beaglebone blue hardware connect to this computer. check USB connection between your computer and the beaglebone blue hardware."). Are there any workarounds to this? or is there a better way to get data from beaglebone blue. Im trying to read the onboard IMU data if that changes anything

managed to work around this by manually setting up wifi on the beaglebone, and manually installing the drivers files listed on the setup
