For what it’s worth, Norton Antivirus didn’t find anything suspicious when I installed it.

On macOS, Intego also reports that HEUR was infected with Surpar.Gen. F-secure does not say anything.

F-Secure also aborted the installation on my Windows 10 PC

I suggest reporting this to customer support. You can also follow these instructrions from Avira about potential false positives.
The official installer contains no malware.

I had to choose to go into the Avira app and exclude the C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2023a folder to get it to stop putting that file in quarintine because each time I started the install again, it would create a new folder with the 'setting_retail_common.zip' file in it. Just click the settings icon at the top, then 'Security' > 'Protection options' > 'Real-time protection' and then scroll to the bottom where it says 'Exclude Folders' and find the 'R2023a' folder that I mentioned above. I know it's not the safest option, but I don't know what else to do.
