Remote Display from Mac Server

I have MATLAB R2015a running on a Mac Pro (OSX Yosemite). I'd like to run it remotely by ssh'ing in from an Ubuntu client. Is there any way to forward graphics (e.g., figures)?

When I run MATLAB on a Linux server, I can do this by forwarding X. But that isn't working in this case. I believe it has something to do with newer versions of MATLAB on OSX not actually using X.

Does anyone know of a way to forward graphics from MATLAB on OSX to an Ubuntu client?

I still haven't found any further information about (or a solution to) this issue. Anyone out there know anything?
