MATLAB Not Working After Update

I recently updated my MATLAB installation to the latest version, but after the update, MATLAB stopped working and the application window doesn't open at all. I tried restarting my computer, but the issue persists.

Do you mean the latest update for release R2020b or the latest release of MATLAB (currently release R2024b)?

Does any dialog box pop up (and if so, what does it say)? Do you hear the Windows error beep?

If any crash log files were created at the same time as you tried to start MATLAB, please send those log files to Technical Support directly for investigation. You can do so using this link.

I updated to the latest update of the same release I was using (R2020b). Regarding the second question, no dialog box appeared, the MATLAB window just doesn’t open at all and there is no Windows error sound. The screen just flashes briefly and then nothing happens.

I would try doing a clean reinstall, i.e., with all previous installation folders deleted. Failing that, you will probably need to talk to Tech Support.
