Problems With Drag and Drop

Hi, I need to ask what could be causing this issue; when dragging a .fig into the command window I should see the figure displayed in a new window but the icon changes to 'no entry' sign and the figure has to be opened manualy from the file menu. This functionality was working up until fairly recently but despite re-installing Matlab completely it still won't work. Please help, thanks.

"until fairly recently" -- in the time since it stopped working, did you possibly upgrade from before R2014b to R2014b or later?

Hi, I'm writing this on behalf of a user with this problem. He has both R2012a and R014a installed, the issue doesn't seem to be related to having both on the same PC as it has been working normally with these for some time.

This screengrab shows the cursor icon when dragging the .fig file onto the command window which changes to the 'no entry' sign and fails to open the file.

The 'uiopen' command should be automatically entered (along with the path to the file) by dragging the .fig file onto the command window. Does this functionality rely on Java? If so could the Java security settings be what's preventing it from doing this?

It looks like unckecking 'Run as administrator' in my Matlab shortcut made this problem go away. Weird.
