Simulink takes forever to terminate

Hi everyone,

I am running a rather big simulation that takes about 6 hours to complete. After it completes, Simulink is terminating (it says "terminating" in bottom left corner) for an additional 20 HOURS!!! Why? I log about 49MB of data.

Hello Robert,

I understand that your Simulink model termination phase is running for a long time. Does it take this long to terminate if you do not log any data?

If your model is very complex, or if you are using a lot of data, it is possible that it is eating into "swap space" or virtual RAM, which is nowhere near as fast as physical RAM. If the blocks or objects are being swapped into that, it may take some time to close everything down. Other than increasing your physical RAM, though, I'm not sure what can be done about that.

You may want to look into using the Simulink Performance Advisor . This is mostly a tool for improving the execution time of the simulation phase, but it may also help with the termination phase time.

Anyway, if you can run it without logging data, it may help determine whether it's the model/simulation or the data logging that is causing the long termination time.

Hi Cam,

I'm facing the same problem with a large simulation even though I'm not logging the data. Thanks for the adviser link anyway! I'll see if I can solve this.
