Multi-channel audio recording

I'd like to use an eight-channel usb/firewire audio interface to record with 8 mics simultaneously. Will Matlab (R2011b) see the interface as a single device or will it see the 8 mics in an aggregate device? Thanks in advance!

You should get distinct device IDs that can be individually addressed.
I know someone was working with 8 microphones at one point, but I am not able to find the discussion now.

Walter, thanks for your answer. I have worked with two USB mics, for which assigning IDs is straightforward since they are seen as separate inputs. Will this be the case with the interface? That is, will the mics connected as inputs to the interface get separate IDs? Won't the interface itself be seen as a single device on the USB or FW port, even though it has 8 mics connected? -A

Sorry, I was not able to locate clear information about this. It might depend upon whether you are using the DSP toolkit, the Data Acquisition Toolkit, or the Instrument Control toolkit.

I have the Signal Processing toolbox, not the DAQ or IC ones.
