Need a compiler for use mex

I need to install a compiler tu use mex, but when I try to instal SDK 7.1 it says that I haven't .Net framework 4.0 but when I try to instal it, it says that I have a newer version, so it can't instal. I have windows 8.1, so I have .net framework 4.5 in the operative system. Why it asks me .net framework 4.0??? Which other compiler I can use and instal in matlab?
