custom-defined syntax highlighting for non-matlab files

Hi,

Many text editors allow users to define their own list of keywords for files with unknown extensions. This list is then passed on to the editor so that when opening files with the unknown extensions to the text editor, a syntax highlighting is applied.

Is there such a thing in Matlab?
