Assistance with math lab compatibility with windows xp
Mostrar comentarios más antiguos
Hi, Would someone be able to help on this matter? I would need an information for one of my client. The problem they are facing is with one of their software; since support for windows XP is no longer available, the owner of one of the application decided to terminate the server that was supporting the specific application. The server was decommissioned, this made the application no longer usable for all the users using XP. Since the customer uses your application on Windows XP called MATLAB R2010a x86 we would like your assistance to determine if there is any servers that would be decommissioned or for whatever reason make the application unavailable for users on windows XP before December 2016? Thank you very much for your assistance and any support provided. Roger.

If the client has active license support, "official" TMW support will help with issues of this nature. They also support installation issues on new licenses and startup issues gratis but I don't know if they would consider the case where the customer willfully (albeit apparently unknowingly) has clobbered a working installation or not, but probably best you can do is ask.
It's absolutely unclear about what actually is nonfunctional from your question; Matlab itself or some other application built with the compiler or the like so you'll have to clarify that. I suggest picking up the phone and calling TMW...

I know that there are some people who are still running MATLAB release 5 from 1995 / 1996 time frame.
When Mathworks indicates that in R2016a there will no longer be 32 bit MS Windows support, what Mathworks means is that they are not going to make new releases of the software available for 32 bit versions of MS Windows; however anyone who already has it running can keep running it.
Your client could even install their R2010a on a different Windows XP system and transfer the license files -- Mathworks supports issuing new license files for software much older than R2010a.
[I do not promise that Mathworks still has the ability to generate new licenses for MATLAB Release 3 (1987 to 1990); I have a vague memory that they did something incompatible after Release 3.]
