To plot a 3d function z=f(x,y), Matlab 3d plot commands such as mesh(X,Y,Z) need a grid of X and Y over which Z is evaluated. What if the data to be plotted is in the form of 3-tuples:(x1, y1, z1), (x2,y2,z2), ...? Is there a function for that?
Thanks

See if the plot3 function does what you want. Another option is scatter3.

To be more specific, I need mesh of z=f(x,y), but my data is not in the form of a grid. plot3 and scatter3 commands do not create a mesh. The plots created by plot3 or scatter3 are hard to visualize as they use dots or connect all the points with lines.

If you want to create a grid for scattered data, use one of the Scattered Data Interpolation functions.
